At the University of York we are seeking a dynamic leader to head our Finance Shared Services team. This role is integral to driving consistency, standardisation, and process improvement across finance functions, while ensuring alignment with sector-specific regulatory requirements, audit standards, and institutional policies. Your key responsibilities will include overseeing the delivery of core transactional services, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, staff expenses, relevant general ledger maintenance and systems improvement. You will also manage and inspire a team of finance professionals and collaborate with both academic and professional services department colleagues to ensure finance services meet institutional needs. What we are looking for: A professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) Extensive knowledge of UK GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Practice) Proven experience of providing excellent financial business partnering to senior leaders Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with professional advisors and stakeholders. A proactive mindset with a drive to continuously improve processes and foster change across the finance function. Interested?
