Mendlesham Medical Group has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced/newly qualified prescribing practice nurse or prescribing paramedic to join our team on a part-time basis for 27 hours per week, worked on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, t o assist a supportive, innovative, and well-run rural practice. The main responsibilities of the role include: Undertaking health assessments, administering medication and treatments, and performing diagnostic tests. Providing and evaluating a range of health interventions to ensure that patients’ health and social care needs are met. General health and well-being promotion as well as creating individual, person-centred plans for patients with, or at risk of, a long term condition. Managing and treating long-term conditions, in line with national and local policies and the practice needs. Reviewing medication for therapeutic effectiveness, in accordance with evidence-based practice as well as national and practice protocols; working with patients to support their adherence to prescribed treatments. Prioritising health problems and intervening appropriately, to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care. Supporting and managing the health needs of women presenting for sexual health and contraception, and cervical cytology consultations. Implementing, and participating in, vaccination and immunisation programmes for both adults and children, including patients travelling abroad. Meeting the needs of patients presenting for opportunistic wound care. Hypertension review and management. Running asthma, COPD and diabetes clinics and reviews. New patient and health checks. The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience of working effectively within a multi-disciplinary, healthcare team, as you will work alongside fellow professionals within the practice in support of one another. About the Candidate We welcome applications from both experienced and newly qualified prescribing paramedic who shares our commitment to excellent patient care, teamwork and innovation wanting a new challenge,. You will have the following skills and experience: Be a registered paramedic, with current HCPC registration, ideally with some being in primary care; Have completed ENP/ ECP Minor Injuries and Minor Illness course Level 6 and be a ALS/APLS provider; Be able to effectively assess, plan, treat and refer patients; Be able to evaluate patient care confidently; Have experience of working to protocols and guidelines; To exhibit excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills; Have the ability to make clear decisions with confidence and communicate these effectively; Understanding of the need to work within the parameters of one's own training and capability, according to the Health and Care Professions Council; Experience of autonomous practice working and multi-professional team working; Can demonstrate a broad and sound knowledge of complex and common conditions in primary care in both adults and children.
