We are looking for an experienced NHS Manager who is familiar with managing hospital services and who has proven leadership experience and will provide support to the Business Manager and deputise accordingly. They will be responsible for the day-to-day operational running of the Older Persons Medicine SDEC, inpatient and outpatient clinics. This role will be critical to the delivery of the Older Persons Medicine, Stroke & Rehab Care Groups objectives and broader Medicine & Urgent Care Divisions strategy. The OPM Operational Manager will play a pivotal role in leading a team of administrators, whilst working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the operational, quality, financial and service improvement priorities of the care group. Main duties of the job • To lead on performance management and manage the associated objective-setting process across assigned services within the Medicine Care Group, working with the senior team to ensure that front-line staff, patients and the public are involved. Develop local performance indicators in line with Directorate objectives. • To account for the non-clinical financial allocation for the Service assigned, ensuring that the necessary resources are available to deliver clinical and non-clinical facilities. Ensure that the service delivers financial targets, including balanced budgets and meeting cost improvement programmes. To take responsibility for the production of Business Plans, Service Development Bids, Business Cases, Capital Bids and business planning. • With the Care Group Manager/ Business Manager act as modernisation lead for services. Take a lead on redesign issues within services, involving front-line staff and patients in delivering effective, efficient and timely services, in a cost-effective way. • Oversee the management of administrative staff and services in support of the provision of high quality care within a patient-centred environment. Communicate highly complex and sensitive information which maybe contentious about the service area to staff and senior managers ensuring that effective communication is achieved, particularly where barriers to understanding exist. 11. Collate data from performance analyses into required reporting mechanisms, developing spreadsheets and data bases where necessary relative to service area and create reports for the Care Group, senior clinicians and other key members of staff. 12. Regularly identify quantifiable opportunities to improve operational excellence and lead on their development and implementation. 13. Take an active part in any operational lead rota alongside other members of the senior management team this involves evening and weekend working. 14. Person Specification Qualifications • Degree or equivalent experience in management • Post graduate qualification e.g. Masters in Healthcare Management or equivalent applied post- graduation management learning relating to a number of disciplines in Business Management, Finance, Accountancy, Marketing, Information Systems or People Management. • Evidence of continuing professional development.
