We are looking for a capable resource to coordinate, ranging from simple activities to more complex plans. This role will provide on-site/ on-call assistance to end-users within the organization’s desktop computing environment in a timely and accurate fashion to ensure optimal service delivery.
Role: Desktop Support Engineer with Server Exposure
Location: Worcester, UK (On-site)
Duration: Backfill (Backfill / On-demand ticket basis)
IR35 Status: Outside IR35
Note: This is not a pure server administrator role. Desktop support is the primary responsibility.
Role Summary:
● This is a hands-on Desktop Support Engineer role with additional exposure to server and infrastructure technologies.
● The primary responsibility is daily desktop and onsite support, along with operational support for Windows Server, Hyper-V, Veeam Backup, HP Storage, and Microsoft SQL Server.
Primary Responsibilities (Desktop / Site Support):
1. Daily L1/L2 desktop and end-user support
2. Windows desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals
3. Hardware troubleshooting, replacements, and installations
4. Onsite coordination with NOC and vendors
5. Hands-on site activities (device reset, cable plug/unplug if required)
6. Incident and request handling using ServiceNow
7. Follow ITIL and change management processes
Additional Responsibilities (Server / Infrastructure Support):
8. Windows Server operational support
9. Hyper-V / Hyper-V Cluster exposure
10. Veeam Backup monitoring and basic restore support
11. HP Storage (SAN) – operational exposure
12. Microsoft SQL Server – basic admin exposure
13. Active Directory – basic exposure
14. Support patching, firmware updates, and backup tape rotation
15. Coordinate with OEM vendors and follow the escalation matrix
Mandatory Skills (Screening Checklist):
16. Strong Desktop Support experience (Windows environment)
17. Windows Server basics
18. Hyper-V exposure
19. Veeam Backup exposure
20. ServiceNow / ITIL awareness
21. Willingness for full onsite, hands-on support

23. SQL Server basics
24. Data center or on-site support experience
25. Vendor / OEM coordination experience
