In your role as a Kitchen Assistant at HC-One, you'll value one thing above all: kindness. It influences every aspect of our Dementia, Nursing, Residential, and Specialist care homes. Every team member understands that our Residents are individuals with their own stories, just like them. Joining HC-One offers a wonderful opportunity to give back to these individuals.
As a Kitchen Assistant, your responsibilities will include helping to prepare and serve nutritious, healthy meals that residents will enjoy. You will uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene. Whether maintaining food supplies and fridge/freezer temperatures, training new staff on equipment use, or cleaning spills, your focus will always be on Resident wellbeing.
We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant with some kitchen experience. Ideally, you will have an NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or be willing to study for one. Good record-keeping and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to follow recipes. When communicating with Residents or colleagues, kindness and consideration are paramount.
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. You should be able to recognize signs of abuse, harm, or neglect and know the appropriate actions to take. All staff are required to attend safeguarding training relevant to their role and to undertake additional training as needed. You should also be able to seek advice and report concerns appropriately, escalating issues if necessary.
We will provide full training, offering a great opportunity to learn new skills. In return, you will have access to a variety of benefits supporting your physical and psychological well-being, including:
* Hourly rate subject to experience and qualifications
* Paid Enhanced DBS/PVG
* Free uniform
* A nutritious meal during shifts of eight hours or more
* Company pension scheme
* 28 days annual leave, including bank holidays
* Group life assurance
* Wagestream for flexible pay access
* Learning and development opportunities with support for qualifications
* GP online service for you and your children under 16
* Learning from experienced colleagues in a supportive team
* Colleague discounts at over 1600 high street stores
* Confidential Employee Assistance Programme for physical, mental, and financial support
* Recognition schemes like 'Kindness in Care' and Long Service Awards
* Refer a friend scheme offering up to £1000 per referral
We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where all colleagues can be their true selves. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and aim for a quick onboarding process from offer to start date.
