Responsibilities
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions):
1. Responds to all emergency calls and provides security escorts.
2. Aides individuals needing assistance.
3. Completes all reports and maintains the daily activity log.
4. Dispatches other security personnel as needed.
5. Monitors CCTV and alarm systems.
6. Provides internal and external patrols of the facility, checking all areas of the hospital and campuses.
7. Remains at post during scheduled shifts.
8. Locks and unlocks specified areas daily.
Qualifications
Job Specifications (Minimum Requirements):
1. Excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude.
2. Must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the employee’s state of residence and maintain an acceptable driving record.
3. Knowledgeable about the laws of the State of Indiana.
4. Familiar with hospital and security department policies and procedures.
5. Requires crisis intervention and patient restraint training.
6. Strong oral and written communication skills.
7. Ability to communicate via radio and telephone.
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
9. Ability to make quick decisions with good judgment and common sense.
10. Ability to recognize safety hazards and take corrective actions.
11. Remain calm in dangerous situations, especially when controlling violent and hostile behaviors.
Education
1. High School Diploma or GED required.
2. Prior law enforcement or security experience preferred.
3. Customer support experience required.
4. Security experience preferred.
5. Experience in public administration, government, or defense (police and sheriff's patrol) preferred.

Confidentiality, HIPAA, and Corporate Compliance
Demonstrates knowledge of procedures to protect and maintain confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information. Supports Methodist Hospitals' compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations regarding ethical practices in healthcare.
