SRG are working with a leading waste management and recycling company who have a long and very successful history of supporting the UK chemical industry. They are now looking for a Senior Site Chemist to join the team. This is a hands-on role within the waste industry, you will be checking supervising and leading operatives, testing incoming loads, processing hazardous and non-hazardous waste, insuring segregation and storage of hazardous waste meets requirements, labelling waste and completing documents on all incoming and outgoing chemical materials. This role would suit candidates with prior industrial experience within the waste industry.
Working Hours: 37.5 working hours per week, Monday to Friday, 24 days holiday + statutory bank holidays. Access to Rewards Gateway offering excellent discounts and cash back with many large retailers.
Role/Description
Receiving chemical waste onto site from industrial and commercial sitesEnsuring paperwork for incoming waste is compliant and correctly completedConfirm all accepted waste meets defined standards and complies with pre-acceptance and Environmental Permit requirementsOversee the safe, compliant, and timely handling, storage, and treatment of all wasteLead, plan and supervise site operatives to ensure that waste is processed, stored and transferred in a safe, compliant and timely manner as well as providing technical support to other members of staff on site.Assisting with the control of material flows through the site and ensuring container stocks are maintained to avoid delays and backlogsSupporting site chemists and operatives, ensuring all staff are working efficiently and collaborativelyAssist with site compliance and health and safety requirements and their strict adherenceRequirements
Minimum HND in Chemistry, or similar qualification with significant chemistry content2+ years' experience in a supervisory role within hazardous waste managementRecent experience working within the Hazardous Waste industryAny of the following qualifications or experience are considered advantageous: COTC, WAMITAB, NEBOSH, IOSHWilling to work outside in all weathersGood work ethic, hands-on approach and a willingness to learnFull right to work in the UK - There is no sponsorship available for this roleSRG is the UK's number one recruitment company specialising in the scientific, engineering, clinical, pharmaceutical, food/FMCG, energy & renewables, biotech, chemical and medical device sectors.
