Responsibilities
To support the Deputy Chief Pharmacist and Clinical Director of Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation in developing and implementing the overall strategy for the Pharmacy Services that incorporates operational performance measures and reflects the Trust Strategy and Integrated Care System Strategy including advances in automation. To act as the professional lead for pharmacy technicians, preregistration pharmacy technicians, pharmacy assistants and other support staff; promoting high levels of professionalism and performance in this staff group, advocating for and championing their current and potential roles. To undertake workforce planning, which includes skill mix reviews leading to the development of Pharmacy Technician roles within the Pharmacy service. Provide professional and strategic leadership to pharmacy services on, but not limited to, defined areas of responsibility. Be a key part of the Pharmacy Leadership Team and Pharmacy Board, working collaboratively with other members to provide senior leadership to the pharmacy service, and acting on behalf of the Deputy/Chief Pharmacist as requested / delegated. Utilise highly developed specialised knowledge of pharmacy technician roles and how these can be implemented through work procedures and practices. Maintain own knowledge through ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to achieve this and engender that same culture in others.
Qualifications
* Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* Current nationally recognised Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) Qualification (Level 3)
* Management Qualification to a Masters level (Level 7), or equivalent experience, with a willingness to undertake formal study if not held
* Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
Desirable Qualifications
* Member of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK (APTUK)
* Knowledge of managing a Hospital Pharmacy Stock control system
Experience
* Proven management role with experience of managing staff and a service
* Significant experience of conflict resolution and reaching a satisfactory outcome
* Significant experience in an Acute Hospital Pharmacy setting post registration
