About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Energy Transition Team. The role requires leading the development of mechanical designs on a wide range of transmission projects, including natural gas at below and above 7 bar, hydrogen, and carbon dioxide. You will also have the opportunity to work on projects across the wider energy portfolio.
Our UK Energy Transition team supports clients from initial inception through development, construction, operation, and decommissioning, delivering projects that meet and exceed client expectations.
Responsibilities
* Work with the project team to develop cost‑effective, efficient, and innovative solutions to complex problems, creating practical designs.
* Involve in projects at various maturity stages—feasibility studies, Concept Designs, FEED Studies, Value Engineering, and Detailed Design—with opportunities for site work during development, construction, and commissioning.
* Prepare pipeline deliverables and above‑ground installations such as wall‑thickness calculations and piping specifications.
* Undertake pipeline routing, population studies, and high‑pressure pipeline diversions.
* Collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines during design development.
* Support development of layouts and 3D models.
* Develop proposals and bids for the piping and layout discipline and contribute to multidisciplinary proposals.
Qualifications
* Degree in a relevant engineering subject.
* Chartered Engineer status or working toward IEng/CEng and membership of a relevant engineering institute.
* Understanding of IGEM/TD/1 and TD/13, and gas network operators addendum.
* Ability and desire to lead the development of pipeline and AGI engineering deliverables.
* Knowledge of national and international codes and standards covering design, manufacturing, and installation of plant equipment and piping.
* Experience in pipeline and AGI design.
* Experience working in a multidisciplinary team on plant 3D models.
* Proven understanding of the design process, with ability to interpret brief/scope documents and produce calculations.
* Experience troubleshooting operational and integrity issues.
* Familiarity with the Autodesk suite (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks, BIM360).
* Proficiency in MS Office for creating technical reports, specifications, schedules, and calculations.
* Experience working with clients and contractors to achieve technical solutions.
