Overview
The Blavatnik School of Government seeks to appoint a Senior Fellow of Practice (with potential to apply for the Professor of Practice title) in the area of public management. The postholder will contribute to both the academic and administrative work of the School. They will collaborate with the academic faculty in the School, either in the leadership of a major project for the School, and/or through activities such as co-teaching, co-authorship of policy and practice publications (as well as other materials), mentoring of more junior faculty, and public engagement.
They will be a senior practitioner who has served at the highest levels of the public service, with a powerful track record of excellence, and exemplary leadership and management. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to reflect upon and systematise lessons from their practice. They will have the skills and expertise necessary to contribute rigorous, practice-based teaching to our programmes. The postholder will likely have an international reputation in their field and one that will enhance the School's reputation for excellence in teaching and public engagement. They will have a significant and influential track record of senior professional experience beyond the higher education sector; and a range of published outputs recognised as world-leading in the context of professional practice.
About you
You will hold a PhD in a relevant discipline or possess equivalent, substantial experience in business, the public sector, public policy, public management, or a related field. With experience of operating at the highest levels of public service and an outstanding reputation as an exemplary leader and manager in public policy and practice, your record will bring authority and credibility to your teaching. You will be recognised either as an exceptional practice-focused teacher and programme director, or demonstrate a clear capacity to develop rapidly into this role and will have proven capability and a track record of excellence in contributing to administration and leadership within higher education. The role requires someone who thrives in collaborative environments, works effectively as part of a team, and shows a deep commitment to treating students, colleagues, and staff with dignity and respect, valuing and engaging with diversity of background and perspective.
