Location: Metro Rod Support Centre, Macclesfield (Hybrid - minimum 3 days in office)
Travel: National travel required
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 + 2% commission (DOE) + car allowance + benefits
On-Target Earnings: £65,000 (linked to delivering minimum 10% network growth)
Metro Rod works with Equans, Amey, Aldi, Mitie, Greggs, McDonalds, Wetherspoons and many more in the FM, Social Housing, Property Management, Retail, Industrial and Leisure sectors. Founded in 1983, Metro Rod and its sister company Metro Plumb are leading providers of drain clearance and maintenance services delivered on a largely reactive basis. The services are provided by over 60 franchisees with geographical coverage across the UK. We’ve been clearing and unblocking drains for more than thirty years and we’re proud of our reputation for quality service and customer satisfaction.
Within the Waste & Water Services Division of Franchise Brands, Willow Pumps and Filta focus on sewage pumps and commercial kitchen solutions. Together, the brands provide a complete one-stop shop for keeping water and waste flowing.
Role overview
We’re looking for a commercially driven, relationship-focused sales leader who knows how to turn opportunity into growth. You’ll be someone who thrives on building strong partnerships, spotting new revenue streams, and driving performance across a diverse network. You’ll shape strategy and also roll up your sleeves to deliver on the ground. With a natural ability to influence and inspire, you’ll coach franchisees to think commercially, act confidently, and deliver results.
This is a pivotal role at the heart of Metro Plumb’s growth journey. As National Sales Manager, you’ll expand our UK network—driving revenue, identifying new market opportunities, and strengthening relationships with national clients and our franchise network. You’ll blend strategic thinking with a hands-on approach, leading from the front by developing high-value accounts while coaching franchisees to maximise their commercial potential.

What does it entail?
You’ll be at the heart of our franchise network—driving performance, supporting day-to-day operations, and ensuring a consistently high standard of customer service. Acting as the key link between franchisees and the Support Centre, you’ll resolve challenges, deliver training, and lead improvements that keep the network running efficiently and delivering for customers. You will spend your week between our support centre and visiting our franchise network.
Key responsibilities
* Drive Network Growth
o Deliver a minimum 10% year-on-year growth across the Metro Plumb network
o Support expansion into new markets, sectors, and service lines
o Identify, develop, and convert national and regional opportunities
* Develop Franchisee Capability
o Coach franchisees to improve sales performance and commercial confidence
o Support personal growth and embed a proactive sales culture
o Enable franchisees to become self-starting, opportunity-led operators
* Account Management & Business Development
o Manage key national accounts while actively generating new business
o Build long-term relationships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders
o Conduct regular on-site visits with franchisees and customers
* Brand & Market Leadership
o Strengthen the Metro Plumb brand across all customer touchpoints
o Contribute to national sales strategy and service positioning
o Provide market intelligence, competitor insights, and customer feedback
Key measures of success
* Delivery of 10%+ network revenue growth
* Achievement of £65k OTE through performance
* Increased franchisee sales capability and independence
* New account acquisition and market expansion
* Strength and consistency of the Metro Plumb brand
What are we looking for?
* Proven field sales experience within plumbing, heating, or related sectors
* Background in plumbing & heating
* Strong track record of winning and developing business relationships
* Experience working with or supporting multi-site or franchise networks (desirable)
* Willing and able to conduct regular travel to our franchise network
* Must have a full clean UK driving license
