About the Freedom Project
Dogs Trust Freedom Project is a pet fostering service for families fleeing domestic violence and is part of the charity’s work to support pet owners in housing crisis. The service places pets into volunteer foster homes on a temporary basis until their owners are able to have them back. The Freedom Project has been running successfully in Greater London since 2004 and, having recently celebrated its 10th Anniversary, has now helped over 750 pets. Responsibilities
* Provide advice and support to pet owners and volunteers
* Work with other stakeholders, such as domestic violence services, the police and vets
* Assess and handle dogs in a working environment and in a public‑facing role
* Transport dogs across Greater London and the Home Counties
* Carry out administrative tasks and driving duties as required
Qualifications
* Experience of assessing and handling dogs in a working environment
* Confident and personable communicator in a public‑facing role
* Full clean manual driving licence and driving experience as part of a previous role
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
* Understanding of the challenges faced by families fleeing domestic violence with pets
