Building/Engineering Manager | Hull and East Riding | Full time, Permanent | 37.5 hrs | Competitive Salary and great benefits
Spire Hull and East riding have an amazing opportunity for a Building and Engineering manager to join their fantastic team. The successful candidate will be based across 3 sites and have up to 15 reports and will need to have strong management skills and possess a Full UK driver’s licence.
Job Purpose
To maintain grounds, building fabric, building services and all equipment in cost effective manner, ensuring compliance with all National Legislation and Spire Policy. To maintain a safe environment for all staff and customers. To ensure that all services in support of patients and clinical services (portering,and engineering) are delivered timely and cost effectively to a high standard with continuous improvement
Promoting and facilitating effective lines of communications through team briefing of own staff and maintaining good working relationships with other departments within the hospital.
Accountabilities/Activities
•To plan, develop and implement a comprehensive, cost effective, planned and preventative maintenance / repair programme for all engineering services / equipment, utilising the network Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
•To commission, record and schedule all new equipment and services for planned maintenance on the network CMMS. Ensure continual update of hospital asset register to keep all plant and equipment visible to the site and the network.
•Ensure an appropriate asset management procedure is in place for all engineering plant and equipment. Work with other departmental manger’s to ensure an appropriate asset management is in place for all hospital equipment.
•To identify, prioritise and report engineering infrastructure and compliance risk to your Regional Engineer and National Engineering and Estates Manager.
•Ensure accurate record keeping and easy retrieval filing of documentation for all services and equipment for audit purposes.
•To plan and develop an annual Engineering Estate’s Plan to include comprehensive maintenance programme for building fabric.
•To manage the engineering team, ensuring good communication and motivational practices take place.
•To manage individual team members performance, appraisal and rewards.
•To identify personal training and development requirements, for self and team, consistent with the hospital business plan.
•To be point of contact for all external contractors providing specialist services to building/building services/equipment and manage those contractors whilst on site in line with Spire policy.
•To ensure Fire Risk Assessment and all fire alarm/emergency lighting, and firefighting equipment is maintained according to current legislative requirements.
•To be the Authorised Person for the Piped Medical Gas System and ensure it is maintained and repaired in accordance with current guidance and Spire Policy.
•To be the Authorised Person for Decontamination Equipment and ensure all maintenance and periodic testing is carried out in line with current guidance and Spire Policy
•To be the Authorised Person for Heating and Ventilation Systems and ensure all maintenance and validation testing is carried out in line with current guidance and Spire Policy.
Qualifications and Training:
* Preferably a Higher National Certificate in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent
* Served a recognised apprenticeship in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
* Hold relevant certificates or be willing to undertake specialist training in specific areas
