37 hours per week This role is office-based; however, it also offers some agile or remote working An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Payments Team to appoint a career-graded development role as a Payments Officer (Debt Recovery). We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and forward-thinking individual to join our high-achieving team, who play a vital part in ensuring the Council can continue delivering essential services to residents. As a key member of the Payments Team, you will contribute to the effective collection, management and recovery of income, supporting the Council’s financial stability and helping customers resolve outstanding balances in a fair, transparent and supportive way. This role is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills while working in a dynamic service area that makes a positive difference. Debt recovery is not just about collecting overdue payments — it is about supporting customers, preventing future debt, and helping the Council reinvest in services that benefit the whole community. You will be required to provide administrative support to the team, Team Leader and other colleagues from across the Council. This will include but is not restricted to: Processing of financial data and invoicing Running and analysing reports Recovery of monies in relation to overdue invoices Daily communication with internal and external customers As part of this busy team you will need to be a fantastic communicator, highly organised and have a keen eye for detail. You should have the ability to work under pressure and understand the importance of good customer service, with the ability to prioritise your own workload and work effectively within a team. Previous financial administrative experience is desirable, though we are primarily looking for the right candidate with clear passion to be able to deliver the expectations of the job summary, a drive to learn and an ability to work on their own initiative.
