Senior Production Technician - Aseptic Services

Band 5 | Permanent | Full time - 37.5 hours per week
Site: Royal Liverpool University Hospital, Liverpool
Department: LUH - 1 General Staffing (AFC posts) | Pharmacy Aseptic Services

Salary: £31,049 - £37,796 per annum (Yearly) | Closing: 08/10/2025 23:59

We are a major acute teaching Trust offering a wide range of clinical specialties, including tertiary referrals for HIV and Renal Medicine. Pharmacy services are well developed and deliver high quality Medicines Management. We have a highly regarded Aseptic Production Unit (APU) and moved into a brand new facility in 2023. We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic individual with experience in aseptic services to work closely with Operational Managers to help steer the team at the production unit and support the production activity of the APU. Your input will be vital in ensuring quality is at the centre of patient care across the NHS and private healthcare settings. You must have the required qualification, registration and experience in Aseptic Services.


Main duties

* To facilitate the delivery of a safe and effective aseptic and chemotherapy service, in line with available resources.
* To participate in the day-to-day delivery and maintenance of dispensing and manufacturing services, in line with resources and service demands.
* To work closely with the senior pharmacists and the production manager to develop the aseptic service provision within the Trust in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
* To integrate the system for monitoring in conjunction with the Production Manager and Senior Technician Quality Assurance for the Aseptic Unit located on site.
* To ensure aseptic dispensing and manufacturing is carried out in compliance with current legislation (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) and GMP standards.
* To actively seek to further develop roles through education and training of Technician & ATO staff within aseptic dispensing and manufacturing activities.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

* NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Services or Science Manufacturing Technician or equivalent
* A member of the GPhC council, Science Council or equivalent
* Attendance of APDM

Desirable criteria

* NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Services, Science Manufacturing Technician or equivalent


Experience

Essential criteria

* Demonstrable knowledge of GMP or QC laboratory practical work experience and/or substantial experience in an industrial/pharmaceutical setting
* Experience of working in a team
* Experience of the preparation of aseptic products
* Evidence of relevant and on-going CPD

Desirable criteria

* Experience of using automated equipment
* Experience in physical, environmental and microbiological monitoring


Knowledge

Essential criteria

* Numerate; able to carry out simple calculations
* Knowledge and application of SOPs and Quality Assurance systems, GMP and GDP
* Knowledge of COSHH
* Knowledge of clinical trials and hospital aseptic services
* Able to relate to all grades of staff within a multidisciplinary team


Skills

Essential criteria

* Clear and accurate written and verbal communication
* Ability to use different IT applications
* Ability to work in a busy environment to meet deadlines with attention to detail
* Ability to work alone or as part of a team
* Methodical with attention to detail
* A range of aseptic preparation and manipulation skills
