As a SEN Teacher, you'll deliver adapted learning based lessons, working closely with support staff and external professionals to meet each student's unique needs.
Candidate Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver tailored lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
* Assess students' abilities and monitor progress, adapting strategies to support development
* Create Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and set achievable learning targets
* Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals to support pupils
* Foster an inclusive, supportive, and safe classroom environment
* Use a variety of teaching methods, including sensory and practical activities, to engage learners
* Communicate regularly with parents/carers about student progress and wellbeing
* Support pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural development alongside academic learning
Candidate Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
* A relevant degree (e.g. Education, Psychology, or a subject specialism)
* Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
* Strong understanding of different learning difficulties (e.g. autism, ADHD, dyslexia)
* Knowledge of SEN legislation and frameworks (such as the SEND Code of Practice in the UK)
* Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs
* Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
* Experience collaborating with parents, support staff, and external professionals (e.g. speech and language therapists)
