Art & Design Technology Teacher – Secondary School – Portsmouth, Hampshire
Start Date: September 2025 | Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Are you a creative and enthusiastic Art & Design Technology Teacher ready to inspire the next generation of innovators?
GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Art & Design Technology Teacher to join a dynamic mainstream secondary school in Portsmouth, Hampshire, starting in September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent role offering a salary of £30,000 – £50,000 per annum, depending on experience. Applications are welcomed from Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) holders, Early Career Teachers (ECTs), and suitably qualified overseas-trained teachers.
This is a fantastic opportunity to combine creativity and technical skills, delivering engaging lessons that encourage students to explore art, design, and practical problem-solving.
* Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in Art and Design Technology across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5
* Inspire creativity and innovation through a combination of theory and practical work
* Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and support
* Maintain a safe and stimulating classroom/workshop environment that encourages exploration
* Manage behaviour effectively in line with school policies
* Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Art and Technology departments
* Support and guide students preparing for assessments and coursework projects
* Contribute to extracurricular activities such as clubs, competitions, or exhibitions
Requirements for an Art & Design Technology Teacher:
* QTS, ECT, or overseas trained-qualified teacher status
* A degree in Art, Design Technology, or a related subject area
* Previous experience working as an Art & Design Technology Teacher across secondary schools
* Strong subject knowledge and passion for creativity, design, and innovation
* Ability to inspire and challenge students of varying abilities
* Excellent classroom management and communication skills
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
* Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
