We are working with a well-established UK-based engineering and defence technology company that specialises in delivering advanced electronic and communication systems for mission-critical environments. With decades of expertise, they support global defence and security operations, offering end-to-end solutions from design and prototyping through to integration and support.
We are looking for a hands-on Prototype Wire Technician to join a growing engineering team working on cutting-edge, bespoke technology. This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in the full product development lifecycle, building and supporting high-quality prototype systems in a fast-paced R&D environment.
Responsibilities:
* Carrying out prototype wiring, including soldering, crimping, and cable assembly
* Building electrical and electromechanical assemblies from technical drawings and schematics
* Interpreting wiring diagrams, BOMs, and engineering instructions
* Supporting prototype builds, modifications, and design changes
* Conducting basic inspection and testing
* Ensuring all work meets quality standards (IPC-A-610 / IPC-A-620)
* Working closely with engineering and production teams to resolve build issues
Required Skills:
* Must be UK-born.
* Eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC)
* Proven experience in wiring, cable assembly, or electromechanical assembly
* Strong skills in soldering and crimping
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
