We are excited to offer an opportunity to join our inpatient therapy team at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT) as assistant practitioners.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with clinical experience wanting to progress a career within therapies. Those applying for this role will require the AP qualification or equivalent. For the right candidate without the qualification, we will support the completion of the AP course provided by UCLAN. This is a 2-year course requiring 1 day a week to attend university. The qualifications required are within the attached documents. Study will be funded by UHMBT and the individual will be paid under Annex 21. Pay protection will be considered as appropriate.
Experience and knowledge of rehabilitation services and pathways would be desirable, however it is essential that the successful candidate have relevant inpatient clinical experience.
Our inpatient therapy team consists of Physiotherapists (PT), Occupational Therapists (OT), and Therapy Assistants. This role will require the use and development of skills across both OT and PT within the rehabilitation, extended stay, and frailty therapy team, providing assessment, treatment, and therapeutic intervention to maximise patients' levels of functional ability.
We are looking for a candidate who is driven and keen to learn. Efficiency and organisational skills are key.
This post is a static position within the inpatient rehabilitation, extended stay, and frailty team, including mobility assessments, exercise progression, and discharge coordination. Cross cover may be required in response to service needs.
The successful candidate must work independently, make clinical decisions, and manage patient caseloads within the scope of the role.
The post holder will receive formal supervision and annual appraisal to support development. In-service training and relevant training opportunities are provided.
Peer support is available from existing band 4 staff within the MDT and the wider team, including stroke and supported discharge teams.
The role will contribute to projects focused on length of stay, patient flow, and MDT working, with potential weekend working as we move towards a 7-day service.
This role requires leadership skills, including training and supervising colleagues.
