Accountable Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a market leading business based in Chester to recruit a high-calibre Financial Controller to join their leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong, fully qualified accountant looking to develop within a dynamic and fast paced business.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Lead the monthly and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
* Own the balance sheet and ensure robust controls are in place across all key accounts
* Work closely with auditors and manage the year-end audit process
* Prepare and review statutory accounts in accordance with UK GAAP / IFRS
* Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital monitoring
* Oversee VAT and other regulatory returns
* Lead and develop a small finance team
* Support budgeting and forecasting cycles, working closely with FP&A or commercial finance colleagues
* Drive improvements in financial processes, systems, and internal controls
* Act as a key finance contact for senior stakeholders across the business
Key Skills & Requirements
* Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
* Post-qualified experience in a technical finance role, ideally as a 2nd or 3rd move from practice or industry
* Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS; experience preparing statutory accounts
* Excellent attention to detail and a hands-on approach to financial control
* Confident communicator, able to work cross-functionally and present to senior leadership
* Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
* Proven track record of improving systems, controls, and processes
