We are currently looking for a Plant Supervisor to join our friendly team based at our Tarmac Taffs Well Concrete Plant, Cardiff.
This site is accessible from Cardiff, Tredegar, Merthyr Tydfil, Newport, Bridgend, Barry, Port Talbot, Caerphilly, Pontypridd, Coleford, Ross-on-Wye and the surrounding areas.

Main Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Senior Operations Manager, the Plant Supervisor will assist in managing a busy Ready Mix concrete plant and be accountable for RMX operations. Safety and operational standards are fundamental, with cost control, delivery to customer needs, and performance improvement being key. Managing plant compliance with business policies and procedures and ensuring legislative compliance are also important aspects of the role.
As Plant Supervisor, you will also be responsible for:
1. Managing all aspects of daily production, including operational costs and controlling stocks.
2. Efficient manufacture of concrete, controlling standard deviation and cement contents.
3. Operating fixed and mobile plants.
4. Driving operational performance through KPIs, ensuring the plant runs at expected capacity.
5. Batching concrete to meet customer needs while meeting internal quality requirements.
6. Taking customer orders and arranging shipping.
7. Administrative and compliance duties using computer systems (including Fortek and Excel).
8. Housekeeping tasks and general maintenance assisting the fitting team.
9. Ensuring health and safety of colleagues, business partners, and everyone on site.
There may also be occasional Saturday morning work, potentially twice per month, to assist with maintenance or production depending on workload.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within plant operations, ideally within a Ready Mix / Aggregates environment or similar. Supervisor experience is essential.
Suitable candidates will also have:
* Working knowledge of operating/maintaining processing plant.
* Knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills.
* Confidence to work independently and as part of a team, with a positive attitude to motivate others.
* Full knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
* Flexible approach to multitasking and managing change effectively.
* Capability to identify and implement site and process improvements.
* IT literacy.
