Amazon is seeking an exceptional VAT Manager to join our team in a VAT advisory role supporting Amazon Business covering primarily B2B EU VAT/invoicing topics. The successful candidate will be keen to gain a deep understanding of Amazon's business model and end-to-end systems, will take ownership of projects, is able to deliver on tight deadlines, and enjoys collaborating across business, tax, and technology teams.
A day in the life:
1. Assist with the delivery of planning, real-time coordination, and communication of business projects with tax dependencies.
2. Identify and define risks, opportunities, and strategy using your expertise and judgement to support decisions with financial, operational, or customer implications.
3. Collaborate with tax, business, and tech partner teams, including drafting documentation to support analyses, decisions, and conclusions.
4. Effectively communicate with and influence partner teams.
5. Support engagements with external advisors and tax authorities.
This position is office-based.
Key job responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have effective interpersonal skills, the ability to interpret complex VAT regulations into practical, clear requirements, and persuasive communication skills with both tax and non-tax professionals.
Minimum qualifications:
* 7+ years of relevant VAT experience, e.g., Big 4 Accounting Firm, Law Firm, in-house tax experience, or equivalent education and experience.
* Proficient English language skills.
Preferred qualifications:
* Recognized professional tax qualification, chartered accountant, or relevant legal degree.
* International VAT experience in practice and industry, including B2B/B2G invoicing, B2B supply chain, domestic and cross-border supplies of goods and services.
