We have an exciting opportunity to join South Staffordshire Core CAMHS as a CAMHS Practitioner. There are two posts available based with the CAMHS teams in Cannock and Stafford.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialist assessments of children and young people, based upon the appropriate use, interpretation & integration of complex data from a variety of sources.
* Be responsible for implementing a range of clinical interventions for children and their families, within and across teams, employing individual and integrative approaches, adjusting and refining formulations drawing upon different explanatory models.
* Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options based on theoretical and therapeutic models and complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.
* Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of children and families.
* Provide specialist advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals, contributing directly to clients’ formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
* Contribute directly and indirectly to improving the understanding of child and adolescent mental health.
* Offer medication interventions where appropriate.
* Take a lead role in the development of clinical services for young people accessing CAMHS services, including those identified as requiring additional consultation.
* Serve as an essential nursing member of the MDT and facilitate the coordination of care on a multi‑disciplinary basis.
Qualifications
* Registered Mental Health Nurse or HCPC registered professional relevant to Children’s mental health. Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a psychological therapy.
* Additional qualification in Child & Adolescent Mental Health, inclusive of but not limited to: CYP IAPT, CBT, CBTp, Family interventions, CAT, DBT, etc.
* Recognised appropriate qualification in mentoring, assessing, and supporting students on placement.
* Non‑medical prescriber V300 or working towards this.
Experience
* Evidence of extensive post‑registration experience working with those who may experience complex mental health needs in the community setting and working in an MDT.
* Experience of working with people who have difficulty engaging with services and have complex mental health needs requiring care coordination and autonomous working.
* Experience of assessing and managing complex needs, including risk within a structured framework such as CPA/Safeguarding Children and familiarity in working in CAMHS.
* Experience of effectively managing mental health related issues/referrals/need for advice face‑to‑face and virtually, including telephone, at times of high demand and in relation to highly stressful/emotive situations.
