Clubhouse & Events Manager
The Clubhouse & Events Manager is a key role within the Rugby Club being responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the clubhouse, ensuring a welcoming, friendly, safe, and well-maintained environment for members, players, and guests.
The role includes managing bar and catering services and promoting its hire to external users of the clubhouse, planning, promoting and coordinating events, maintaining the facility, supervising staff and volunteers, and ensuring compliance with health & safety, and licensing regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
· Ensuring that an excellent service is delivered to members and guests, creating a welcoming, friendly environment.
· Oversight of bar management including stock control, purchasing, and supplier relationships.
Oversee the operation of the kitchen.
· Organize staffing rotas for match days, training nights, club and private hire events.
Marketing and Event Coordination
· Promote clubhouse facilities to third parties to generate additional income.
· Organize and manage club events, including on match days, social functions, and private hires.
· Liaise with external event organizers, caterers, and suppliers.
Staff and Volunteer Management
· Recruit, train, and manage bar staff ensuring that they understand their duties and the standards expected of them.
· Foster a positive, team-oriented working environment.
· Coordinate with club volunteers for support on event days.
Facility Management
· Ensure the clubhouse, bar, and associated facilities are clean, presentable, and well maintained.
· Oversee regular maintenance schedules and liaise with Eastleigh Borough Council and contractors where needed.
Financial and Administrative Duties
· Manage budgets for clubhouse operations.
· Handle cash, card transactions, and financial reporting accurately.
· Ensuring proper costs control including monitoring of stock, wastage, and staffing costs.
· Reconcile takings both cash and card transactions and drive revenue growth of bar and events.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
· Ensure all operations comply with licensing laws, health and safety regulations, and club policies.
· Putting in place policies and procedures to maintain the highest standards of hygiene and health and safety.
· Conduct regular risk assessments.
· Maintain up-to-date certifications for food hygiene, first aid, and alcohol licensing as necessary.
Key Skills and Experience
· Previous experience in hospitality, events management, or facility management.
· Strong leadership and people management skills.
· Excellent organisational and administrative abilities.
· Financial acumen and experience handling budgets.
· Customer-focused attitude with strong interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
· Knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety, and licensing regulations (certifications preferred).
Desirable Qualifications
· Personal License for alcohol sales.
· Food Hygiene Certificate.
· First Aid Certificate.
· Experience working in a sporting or community club environment.
