Our business requires an experienced and methodical Business Development Manager to cover South and South West England remotely, in the builders merchant and tool hire sector.

Experience within the tool hire and merchant sector is essential.

The role involves initial interactions and onboarding of new clients, as well as developing existing accounts. It can be considered inheriting a warm desk with legacy clients and initial significant billings.

This Business Development Manager role involves selling a range of construction-related products to sub-contractors, house builders, and builders. Building relationships at all levels, this role requires a natural sales ability.

It is ideal for an experienced external sales consultant from a construction or builders merchant background, but candidates from all sales backgrounds are applicable.

The right candidate may also have internal sales experience, looking to build their own client base and earn substantial bonuses.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Communicating regularly with and building relationships with key personnel of your designated customer base.
2. Working with Branch Managers to identify new sales opportunities.
3. Linking with other branches and Key Account Managers as necessary.
4. Following up on potential opportunities with customers.
5. Obtaining new accounts and maximizing their potential.
6. Maintaining margin levels and increasing them where possible, as directed by directors.
7. Ensuring all relevant sales opportunities outside your area are passed to the relevant branch.
8. Responding to specific sales needs outlined by management.
9. Supporting marketing and promotional activities.
10. Achieving sales and profit targets.
11. Attending sales and other meetings as required.
12. Managing your diary effectively, recording all calls and visits.
13. Assisting customers with pipeline planning for upcoming projects.
14. Maintaining and updating your personal ledger.

Branch performance responsibilities include assisting with stock takes, developing supplier relationships, identifying new customers, and maintaining relationships with existing ones to maximize sales. You are authorized to make trading and margin decisions within defined levels. Collaboration with other branches ensures optimal stock use.

Full training on company policies and procedures will be provided; understanding of the overall process and role is essential.
