About this Position:
This opportunity is for an experienced Technical Publications professional to create and maintain high quality technical documentation, such as installation manuals, service and maintenance procedures, and user guides for complex mechanical products. The role requires close collaboration with engineering, manufacturing and product teams to ensure documentation is accurate, clear and compliant with customer, national and international standards. Due to security requirements, applications are restricted to sole UK nationals.
Job Responsibilities:

Author, edit and update client facing technical documentation, including installation, service and maintenance manuals, assembly and disassembly instructions, and engineering change documentation.

Interpret mechanical drawings, CAD models and BOMs to produce user centric content and illustrations (2D/3D), ideally using Solid Edge or equivalent tools.

Partner with design engineers, manufacturing and product teams to capture product functionality and change impacts.
*
Work within client processes and systems; maintain standards, SOPs and procedures aligned to applicable national and international requirements.

Contribute to project and supplier meetings, providing documentation updates and supporting issue resolution as required.
Experience Required:
*
Strong technical writing and editing capability, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with high attention to detail.
*
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and 3D models; sound understanding of manufacturing processes and mechanical assembly.
*
Proficiency in authoring tools; competent with 3D CAD for modelling and drawings (ideally Solid Edge).

Familiarity with structural design practices and methodologies; experience across heavy industry, power transmission, gears and gearboxes.
*
Appreciation of bolted joint analysis and shock assessment in geared transmission systems.
*
Strong knowledge of quality management systems and standards such as AS9100 and ISO 9001; experience with root cause and failure mode analysis.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience) and 5+ years in an engineering design environment involving rotating machinery.
