BMS Systems Engineer
Location: Milton Keynes, United Kingdom
Experience level: Mid (3–8 years)
On‑site requirement: 3 days a week
Responsibilities
* Define and manage system‑level requirements for Battery Management Systems using PLM tools such as Windchill.
* Develop and maintain MATLAB/Simulink models to support system design and simulate battery performance and behaviour.
* Apply Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles to design and document BMS architecture, focusing on the left side of the V (system definition and modelling).
* Collaborate with suppliers to ensure key components such as sensors, ECUs, and battery modules meet system and safety standards.
* Support Verification and Validation (V&V) activities, analysing test data and ensuring compliance with automotive performance and safety requirements.
* Work across cross‑functional teams (hardware, software, and powertrain) to support BMS integration within the overall vehicle architecture.
Required Skills
* Proven experience in Battery Management Systems or Powertrain Systems Engineering.
* Strong background in requirements management, system modelling, and functional architecture.
* Experience with PLM systems (ideally Windchill).
* Skilled in MATLAB/Simulink for model‑based design and system analysis.
* Experience in requirements testing, Verification & Validation (V&V), and system traceability.
Required Qualifications
* A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Systems, or related discipline).
* OR
* A highly relevant technical background with experience in battery or powertrain systems.
Desirable Skills
* Knowledge of MBSE tools and system‑level simulation environments.
* Familiarity with ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) and Automotive SPICE standards.
* Strong stakeholder communication and supplier management experience.
