Job Description
Position: Sample Registration Technician (Fixed Term Contract until September 2026).
Working hours: Saturday and Sunday, 10am - 6pm. For the first two months, Monday and Tuesday, 10am - 6pm for training.
As a Sample Registration Technician you will register all food microbiology samples for analysis in a timely and accurate manner, and transfer to the laboratory as appropriate.
Job Responsibilities
* Accept deliveries of samples/equipment onto site.
* Accurately and rapidly register samples/equipment for analysis and dispatch samples to the relevant business location.
* Liaise with couriers and customers and Eurofins drivers to enable timely collection and dispatch of work to external and internal facilities.
* Follow standard operating procedures and safe working practice to ensure the safety of self and colleagues.
* Ensure that all equipment is kept within recommended limits for calibration and maintenance in order to adhere to quality targets.
* Maintain a clean-as-you-work mentality.
* Ensure that any relevant sample logs are kept up to date.
* Responsible for correct temperature storage of samples on receipt and prior to processing.
* Responsible for the logging of samples onto the in-house IT system.
* Answer incoming calls and make outgoing calls to follow up on customers.
* Communicate with other departments to ensure each sample is prepped correctly.
Qualifications
* Previous experience within a lab is not required – full training will be provided.
* Educated to GCSE level.
* Experience working as part of a team.
* Good organisation and time‑management skills.
* Good communication skills.
* Able to self‑motivate.
