Main duties of the job
Applications are invited for the posts of Consultant in Otolaryngology with subspecialist interests in Rhinology and Paediatrics to join a team of 8 WTE Consultants and 4 part-time Consultants.
The posts are based at Sunderland Royal Hospital, with possible clinics at Durham, Washington, or South Tyneside. The Directorate includes Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery, Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgery, Audiology, and Orthodontics.
There is excellent collaboration within and outside the Directorate. The ENT department has shown continuous improvement and is open to innovative working methods, such as talk-to-text for clinics and correspondence, reducing backlog. Nurse Practitioners are trained to manage common ENT conditions, enabling consultants to focus on more complex cases.
Teaching and training are priorities, with dedicated sessions three times a month during the Golden Hour.
