Job Summary
Consultant Paediatric Audiovestibular Team – 10 Programmed Activities (10 PAs) with flexible working, including shared or part‑time placement. Base locations: Harold Wood Clinic, 24 Gubbins Lane, RM3 0QA and Child & Family Centre, Axe Street, Barking, IG11 7LZ. The Consultant is a key member of an interdisciplinary Paediatric Audiology team working across these sites, supporting service development, patient pathway changes and MDT audiology care.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and participate in the delivery of a comprehensive, evidence‑based Paediatric Audiology service, including care of patients and associated administrative duties.
* Collaborate with audiology team lead, vestibular service and multidisciplinary colleagues to develop and improve patient pathways.
* Supervise trainee audiology/vestibular physicians and other multidisciplinary team members.
* Engage in research programmes relevant to audio‑vestibular medicine and contribute to postgraduate meetings, audit, governance and training activities.
* Maintain clinical and quality standards in line with NICE guidance and Improving Outcomes reports.
* Arrange and participate in peer reviews, risk management and trust protocol adherence.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
* Qualifications: MBBS (or equivalent) MRCP or MRCS(ENT) or FRCS (ENT) or MRCPCH. Non‑UK trained doctors must be on the GMC register and Specialist Register (or within 6 months of attaining CCT in Audio Vestibular Medicine).
* Knowledge Essential: Experience managing paediatric hearing and balance disorders, knowledge of audio‑vestibular disorders, evidence‑informed practice, and Genetics of Hearing loss.
* Clinical Skills Essential: Diagnosis, investigation and management of audio‑vestibular disorders; ability to work within an interdisciplinary neuro‑otology service; organization of clinical investigations and referrals; performance of relevant clinical procedures and management of clinical risk.
