Role: Health and Safety Manager
Location: Exeter
Duration: Permanent

Salary: £55,000 - £65,000

Role Summary: You will be responsible for ensuring health and safety management systems and arrangements are aligned with best practices. You will provide assurance that these systems are applied consistently across the business to effectively control risks associated with activities within the business unit.
Responsibilities:
1. Health & Safety Management Systems & Processes: Review, revise, and publish health and safety management systems and forms to meet policy commitments and legal obligations. Respond to feedback, coordinate with external system providers (e.g., Sypol, Cardinus), and lead the development of new systems and initiatives.
2. Internal Compliance: Develop and manage internal audit processes to ensure all business units and joint ventures comply with health and safety policies and legal requirements. Manage audits, produce reports, and monitor NCRs.
3. External Compliance: Develop and oversee supplier audits for high-risk and other suppliers, liaising with procurement and suppliers. Investigate opportunities for income generation through these activities. Produce monthly reports on supplier audit performance.
Requirements:
* Minimum NEBOSH Health and Safety Diploma
* Membership of IOSH or IIRSM with up-to-date CPD
* IRCA-accredited OH&S lead and internal auditor training, certified by IRCA
* Environmental training/qualification (desirable)
* Membership of IEMA (desirable)
* Enthusiastic about promoting high health & safety standards
* Effective team player and independent worker
* Strong communication and influencing skills
* Self-management skills for high-quality output
