Job Summary
This is a 37.5 hours per week full time, fixed term, 12-month contract.
The post holder will be a key member of the network, providing specialist skills and knowledge to support the running of a range of clinical research studies across GMMH, including recruiting and supporting patients participating in studies within NIHR Northwest Research Delivery Network (NIHR NW RDN) predominantly, although not exclusively, across mental health and dementia.
Main Duties of the Job
Working as part of a team of Research Nurses and Clinical Research Practitioners, the post holder will work collaboratively with internal teams and external organisations involved in the running of research across Greater Manchester.
The post holder will liaise with local clinical teams and study sponsors to oversee the management and delivery of study protocols, recruiting and supporting patients participating in network studies. The post holder will be involved in ensuring that the research undertaken safeguards the well-being of the patients and is conducted within research governance legislation and local policies for research.
Job Responsibilities
The post holder will be identifying potential participants for a range of clinical research studies including complex interventional trials of investigational medical products. This will involve liaising with care teams and assessing patient information against study inclusion and exclusion criteria and will often involve a screening visit to determine eligibility. The post holder will also be responsible for supporting more junior members of the research delivery team with decision making.
The post holder will have a key role in providing and maintaining an appropriate participant-focused environment and facilitating the production of good quality research.
Post holders will be expected to participate fully in their personal development and review process in order to achieve the objectives for this post. The post holder will be required to work across GMMH services with Bolton, Salford, Trafford, Manchester and beyond.

Education/Qualifications
Essential:
* Registered nurse - currently registered with the NMC
* Degree in healthcare subject or working towards

Experience
Essential:
* Demonstrable post registration experience
* Experience of working autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
* Understanding the provision of care in the NHS
* Knowledge of data collection, management and reporting
* Understanding of evidence-based practice
* Demonstrates interest in research
* Evidence of ongoing professional development
Desirable:
* Experience of working in clinical research
* Specialist disease knowledge as appropriate to the disease areas
* Experience of delivering care in the mental health setting
* Understanding of Good Clinical Practice and how research is organised in NHS England and the NIHR CRN Objectives
Skills and Abilities
