Mental Health Assistant - Oxford \n\nWe are looking for a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Mental Health Assistant to join our specialist team supporting children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs in a nurturing and structured school environment.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nProvide daily emotional and mental health support to pupils aged 3-11 with complex SEMH needs.\nBuild trusting relationships with children to help them feel safe, valued, and understood.\nSupport individual pupils in regulating emotions and managing behaviours in and out of the classroom.\nAssist teaching and therapy staff in delivering tailored strategies and interventions.\nAct as a positive role model, promoting wellbeing, resilience, and appropriate social interaction.\nMonitor pupil wellbeing and report changes or concerns to the appropriate safeguarding or pastoral leads.\nHelp create and maintain a calm, predictable, and therapeutic learning environment.\n\nWhat We're Looking For:\n\nA caring, patient, and empathetic individual with a genuine passion for supporting children's mental health.\nExperience working with children with SEMH needs, autism, trauma, or behavioural challenges (preferred).\nUnderstanding of child development, emotional regulation, and attachment-informed practice.\n\nThis role would best suit: \n\nPsychology graduates \nThose with backgrounds in sports, art, music or drama\nThose looking to make a difference!
