Ward 4 is a 30 bedded Stroke Rehabilatatition ward which isrecruiting staff to be part of their team, the staff nurse is to lead andmanage their team under the direct supervision of the ward manager and wardsisters. This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced registerednurse who is highly motivated and enthusiastic, with a keen interest in caringfor patients with Stroke rehabilitation needs.

The stroke Rehab unit is friendly and supportive and has acommitment to providing a high quality of nursing care.
The post holder should work effectively within ateam environment, have good communication skills, initiative, demonstrateenthusiasm about the role and share our passion and vision for providing highquality patient care.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide leadership, clinicalexpertise and organisation of the stroke rehab ward.
They will continuously develop and enhance knowledge andskills that will directly influence consistent standards of clinical practiceand ensure the highest possible standards of evidence based care are achievedin order to promote patient focused care.
They will promote patient centred high quality evidencebased care to patients on the ward, ensuring the patient is central to allaspects of treatment and care.
Communicate effectively with all the multi- disciplinaryteams both internal and external to the organisation.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job responsibilities
Registered General Nurse with current NMC Registration.
Evidence of relevant academic achievements & evidence ofcontinuous professional development.
Proven ability in teaching others via a teaching andassessment qualification or relevant experience
Experienced in the role of mentor to students and developingthe ward to be an effective learning environment.
Proven effective interpersonal skills with an ability todemonstrate managing people and processes via evidence of clinical experienceat a senior nursing level.
IT skills e.g. Use of the internet to access nursing databases and for report writing.
Evidence of motivating and empowering staff to continuallydevelop themselves
Ability to work flexibly within a multi-disciplinary team
Ability to work under own initiative, demonstrate directionand meet deadlines
Ability to work hours flexibly when service needs require
Knowledge of relevant and current national policies, agendasand directives relating to nursing and health care provision.
