This role sits within the Rolling Stock team, which provides critical engineering support across the business—particularly in support of low adhesion conditions and mitigation strategies.
As Rolling Stock Engineer, you will play a key part in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of engineering solutions, working across multi-disciplinary teams to manage and enhance adhesion performance in the rail environment. This includes supporting operational service delivery through engineering actions that either increase available adhesion or reduce adhesion demand.
This position is primarily office-based in central London, with regular site attendance required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead coordination of multi-disciplinary stakeholder inputs, both internal and external
* Apply technical leadership to manage engineering risks with a focus on commercial impact
* Deliver technical and cost-benefit analysis in support of engineering decisions
* Provide analytical support and resolution of complex technical queries related to adhesion, throughout and beyond the leaf fall season
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Degree in Engineering (BEng or MEng) or equivalent
* Must have a PTS Sentinel card
* Strong appreciation of rail adhesion, including mitigation techniques
* Experience applying professional engineering judgement within a maintenance or operations environment
* Understanding of engineering safety management principles within rail or a similar regulated environment
* Demonstrated ability in reviewing and analysing technical documentation
* Familiarity with Railway Standards relevant to Rolling Stock, Track, and/or Signalling
