LOCATION: Can be based in any of the main hubs - London, Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow or Salford – Hybrid working (2 days in the office), with regular travel to London if based outside London
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £80,000 - £90,000pa (plus London Weighting £5,319pa if London based), depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Lead the transformation of finance data at the BBC.We're looking for a dynamic and hands-on data leader to manage the implementation of data governance, develop finance-specific data domain models, and drive strategic data initiatives. You'll collaborate across departments to ensure our financial data is accurate, accessible, and aligned with enterprise goals. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
* Develop and implement strategic data management frameworksto enhance the BBC Finance team’s data capabilities through clear roadmaps and priorities.
* Lead data governance and domain modellingwithin the Finance Division to ensure high data quality, consistency, and alignment with finance-specific needs.
* Ensure alignment with the BBC’s broader data and architecture strategy, supporting organisational goals and adhering to technical standards.
* Manage and mentor high-performing matrix teams, fostering collaboration, continuous improvement, and strong stewardship across data roles.
* Collaborate across the BBCwith finance, technical, and product teams to drive strategic initiatives and promote shared data standards and best practices.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
* Demonstrated expertise in data management, including governance, quality, metadata, and lifecycle practices, with experience integrating SAP BW/4HANA and AWS analytics for unified finance data solutions.
* Technically proficient in SQL, Python, and data modelling, with strong knowledge of relational, dimensional, and domain-driven design, as well as data architecture principles.
* Proven leadership in managing and mentoring data teams, driving delivery and continuous improvement in matrixed environments.
* Effective cross-functional collaborator, skilled at engaging diverse stakeholders and translating complex data concepts for non-technical audiences.
* Strategic thinker with long-term vision, aligning data initiatives with organisational goals and contributing to multi-year transformation projects.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
* Familiarity withagileor other rapid development methodologies.
* Background inbroadcast, media, or public sectorenvironments.
* A mix ofpublic and commercial sectorexperience.
* Formal qualifications incomputer science,data engineering, or related fields (or equivalent experience).
