We are an agency recruiting full‑time staff to work in a special primary school setting in Slough. We're looking for committed individuals who have worked in nurseries, primary schools or special education settings and understand the demands and rewards of working with children with special educational needs. What We're Looking For We are seeking SEN Teaching Assistants who: Have at least 6 months' experience working with children (essential), ideally in nurseries, mainstream or special primary schools. Have experience supporting children with a wide range of special educational needs - including, but not limited to: autism spectrum disorders (ASD), moderate to severe learning difficulties, sensory processing needs, social, emotional and behavioural needs (SEMH), complex learning needs, or other additional needs. Are confident working one‑to‑one and in small groups, supporting individualised learning plans and differentiated learning, and helping children develop communication, social‑interaction, independence and coping skills. Have patience, empathy, adaptability, and a caring approach. Understand the need for consistency, structure, and supportive routines - important when working with children with SEND. Personal life experience with SEND can be helpful, but we prioritise professional experience in nurseries, primary or special‑needs settings. About the School Setting & What You'll Be Supporting The school we work with is a special primary school catering to pupils with a broad spectrum of additional learning needs, including moderate to severe learning difficulties, autism, sensory needs, social‑emotional and behavioural needs and more. Classes are organised not strictly by age, but by learning and support needs - which means that as a SEN Teaching Assistant you'll work in small, supportive classes, delivering highly differentiated, personalised learning programmes. Pupils may require support with communication, social interaction, sensory regulation, emotional regulation, and daily living skills, as well as academic tasks. You may be asked to support pupils individually or in small groups, help implement strategies for communication, behaviour management, sensory regulation, and support in class routines and transitions. Our partner school prides itself on creating a caring, inclusive, safe and nurturing environment where every child - regardless of need - has the chance to thrive, build confidence, learn, and develop skills toward independence.
