Childcare Coordinator (Senior Activity Leader)
Location: Kettering
Employment Type: Full-Time/Non-Exempt
Hourly Rate: $17.23-$20.68
Note: This position works directly with children.
Position Summary:
Responsible for planning, developing, and monitoring all activities in school-age and day camp programs.
Qualifications:
* Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED; an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education is required.
* Ability to obtain a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or equivalent.
* CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen certifications required within 60 days of employment and must be kept current.
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children, demonstrating the ability to motivate and supervise staff. Planning and program development skills are preferred.
* Supervision experience required.
* Previous licensed childcare experience required.
* At least 1 year of office administration and customer service experience required.
* Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
* Valid driver’s license, insurable driving record, and reliable transportation required.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and email applications.
* Must report suspicions of abuse or neglect to appropriate authorities.

Essential Functions:
* Assist in planning, designing, evaluating, and implementing child care programs following YMCA guidelines.
* Manage program within budget constraints.
* Ensure program quality and safety.
* Maintain required enrollment numbers.
* Operate in accordance with Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) guidelines.
* Coordinate with ODJFS for reports and inspections; respond promptly to inspection requests.
* Complete annual inspections with fire department, Department of Health, etc.
* Familiarize with NAEYC and NAA accreditation requirements and develop plans for acquisition and maintenance.
* Maintain records for CACFP and grant programs.
* Supervise staff to ensure proper documentation and compliance.
* Maintain a clean, sanitary environment meeting licensing requirements.
* Ensure staff trainings are up-to-date.
* Keep accurate records for programs, facilities, and staff.
* Establish procedures for scheduling and substitutes; provide classroom coverage when needed.
* Communicate concerns or incidents to the Child Care/Program Director.
* Build relationships with members, participants, and community partners.
* Remain visible and engaged during duty hours.
* Recruit, train, and engage volunteers.
* Participate in program committees and events.
* Promote programs through marketing materials.
* Possess a safe driving record and the ability to transport children securely.
* Protect confidentiality of all program-related information.
