Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Delivery Officer (CDO) to join the senior leadership team at James Paget University Hospital. This pivotal role works in close partnership with the Executive Managing Director (EMD) to drive the delivery of strategic and operational objectives across the Trust. The CDO will support and enable the delivery of Trust objectives including effective organisational leadership, clinical and operational strategy, finance and operational performance. The CDO acts for the EMD in internal and external meetings, leads major programmes and portfolios, oversees centralised functions as the Group model evolves, manages risk, provides policy advice, coaches and supports the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), and produces high-impact written materials and strategic communications. The role involves managing sensitive and confidential issues on behalf of the EMD, including complaints, incidents, and escalations.

Responsibilities
* Act for the EMD in internal and external meetings, including decision making in accordance with agreed strategy and policy.
* Lead major programmes and portfolios as directed by the EMD, including corporate and operational functions.
* Oversee the performance of centralised (Group) functions at the Trust level as the Group model evolves.
* Manage risk in line with the Group risk-based assurance framework, ensuring effective governance and escalation of risks.
* Provide high-quality policy advice, synthesising intelligence from multiple sources to support executive decision‑making.
* Coach and support SLT colleagues to deliver agreed plans and improve performance.
* Produce high-impact written materials including reports, presentations, and strategic communications.
* Manage sensitive and confidential issues on behalf of the EMD, including complaints, incidents, and escalations.
Qualifications and Experience
* Proven leadership experience in a complex healthcare or public sector environment.
* Strong skills in strategic planning, programme delivery, and change management.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across boundaries.
* A commitment to improving outcomes for patients and communities through effective delivery and assurance.
