The Opportunity
Are you looking to inspire the next generation during their most formative years? Tradewind Recruitment is seeking motivated Secondary Teaching Assistants to join our partner Secondary Schools in Millom.
We have a variety of roles available, ranging from General Classroom Support to more focused 1-1 and Small Group intervention positions. This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates or experienced support staff to work within a dynamic high-school environment, supporting students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (ages 11-16) as they navigate their academic journey and prepare for their GCSEs.
Key Responsibilities
* General Classroom Support: Assist the class teacher in managing the learning environment and ensuring all students stay on task.
* 1-1 Support: Provide dedicated, personalised assistance to individual students with specific learning needs (SEND) or pastoral requirements.
* Small Group Work: Lead targeted intervention sessions for small groups of pupils to boost attainment in core subjects like English or Maths.
* Behaviour Management:Confidently manage classroom behaviour, maintaining a focused, respectful, and safe learning atmosphere.
* Mentorship: Act as a role model, helping students build academic confidence and resilience.
Requirements & Skills
We are looking for individuals who are relatable, authoritative, and passionate about student outcomes.
* Qualifications: A degree (in any subject), a relevant TA qualification (Level 2 or 3), or significant experience in a similar role.
* Experience: Previous experience in a school setting is highly desirable, but we also value backgrounds in youth work, coaching, or any professional role supporting teenagers.
* Transferable Skills: Strong communication, the ability to build rapport with young people, and a calm, adaptable nature under pressure.
