About the role: Art and Design Teacher. Activate Learning has an exciting opportunity for a passionate and creative Art and Design Teacher to join our teaching team based at Reading College. The role will deliver across Art qualifications (L3, and FAD) with University Arts London Awarding Body; experience and knowledge of UAL qualifications are desirable. This is a fixed-term, full-time role covering maternity leave at Reading College from November 2025 to November 2026.
Activate Learning has an excellent record of delivering vocational courses with employability embedded at their heart. This is achieved through strong industry relationships and an experienced teaching team. You will work with our team to plan and deliver purposeful practical and theory lessons. Our students are eager to learn, and we aim to equip them with knowledge and skills for their careers or progression to university.
What you need to be successful as an Art Teacher
We are looking for people who can be positive role models for our students and demonstrate the attributes of an inspirational teacher. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential to deliver interesting and purposeful lessons to a diverse range of learners. You should help students leave with professional qualifications and the attributes required to progress in the world of work.
The Successful Candidate Will
* Be a qualified teacher with a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification, or working towards a teaching qualification.
* Have an appropriate professional qualification and/or a degree within an Art & Design pathway.
* Have recent teaching experience in an FE environment and a proven track record of managing and tutoring student groups.
* A working knowledge of UAL Art & Design programmes would be an advantage.
* Be open to technology and virtual learning tools.
* Have the ability to expose students to a wide range of skills within Art & Design. Some desirable specialisms include: Print Workshop, Adobe Creative Cloud, Graphics or Digital Art.
