Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Drilling Supervisor based in Aberdeen. This role will be offered on a 7-8 months on a PAYE contract, working on our clients 2026 Wells P&A campaign. Please be aware that candidates must be available to start within the next few weeks Job Overview:
Directs and manages the activities of contractors and service providers during offshore well operations and ensures work programmes are followed Accountabilities:Directs and manages the activities of contractors and service providers during offshore well operations and ensures programmes are executed safely and efficiently, in full compliance with corporate policies, standards, procedures and guidelines and relevant regulatory requirementsActs as the focal point for day-to-day communication and reporting between the offshore site and onshore operations teams. Ensures all reporting requirements are met in relation to daily operations, Well Examination Scheme, etcTakes a lead role in technical/operational problem-solving and decision-making processes, identifies changes to programmes, risk assesses changes and obtains change approvals, etcMonitors contractor activities, materials movements, etc. and ensures contractors and service providers meet performance expectation/deliver on KPIs relating to e.g. HSE, cost effective use of services and equipment offshore Attends rig/platform management meetings to ensure appropriate representation in relation to drilling, completion and workover activitiesResponsible for the capture of lessons learned and appropriate close out of issues, liaising with contractor and onshore teams as appropriateDemonstrates HSE leadership at all times, actively supports rig/installation safety programmes, supports HSE inspections/visits, etcEnsures offshore and onshore teams inter-face effectivelyContributes to End of Well Drilling and Completion ReportsProvides technical support to offshore management during offshore emergencies/training activities in relation to drilling/well control incidentsThe job holder is expected to be flexible and undertake additional duties commensurate with the overall responsibilities of the job, and that are within their competence, when required Offshore Witness Points:POOH after flow check: DSV on Drillfloor until bit inside casing or the first 10 stands Prior to cement job: DSV to attend the TBTMixing/pumping Cement : DSV at cement unitDisplacing cement: DSV on DrillfloorPressure testing casing: DSV at cement unitLOT/FIT: DSV at cement unit or pump unitLanding BOP, XMT: DSV at ROV room or on DrillfloorWell Control: DSV to be notified asap and go to Drillfloor and confirm shut in pressures etc and prepare for well killDSV at Drillfloor while circulating out an influxLost circulation DSV to be notified asap and go to Drillfloor and prepare plan for regain returnsHole problems (stuck, pack off etc): DSV to be notified asap and go to Drillfloor and take appropriate actionsVerification of the well status vs the handover documentAttending barrier verification in general such as Riser joints pressure testConnector testInflow testingDST string pressure testTesting of surface set-up prior to DST testCompletion string pressure testXMT (for dry XMT; witness assembly of tree cap) pressure test Competencies and Qualifications:Competencies:Highly focused on HSE performance with exemplary attitude and behaviorsConsiderable experience in a senior drilling operations role and of jack-up and semi-submersible operationsExperience of leading well operations/engineering teams – onshore and offshoreExperience of running complex subsea completions and trees Sound commercial awareness/Project financing/cost control principlesProven relationship-builder – internally and externallyHighly developed communication skillsProven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships within an operationally-focused environment Education:Master’s Degree in an engineering/technology/science discipline Work Experience:Considerable experience in a senior drilling operations role and of jack-up and semi-submersible operationsCertificationsFully certified by a recognised Well Control Authority e.g. IWCF, WELLCAPOffshore medical, survival and MIST certification Mandatory Training required:All Company mandatory training as requested, including Compliance training usually provided annually. contract position If you feel that you are well suited to the above opportunity and would like to find out more then please contact Orion Group for more information or apply by forwarding your current CV quoting reference: TR/080811
