KS1 Teacher – SherborneSalary: MPS – Paid to Scale Contract Type: Full-time, Spring Term Start Date: 5th January 2026 An established and welcoming primary school in Sherborne is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated KS1 Class Teacher to join its committed team. This is an excellent opportunity for an inspirational practitioner who is keen to contribute to the continued success and development of a thriving school community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for high-quality teaching and learning, a strong understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum, and confidence in delivering phonics through Read Write Inc. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to uphold the school’s culture of excellence and ensure every child reaches their full potential. The school places a strong emphasis on creating a warm, inclusive, and supportive environment where pupils can flourish. Its six core values shape daily practice and help build a community in which students feel safe, valued, and ready to take on new challenges. Key Responsibilities •Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons tailored to the needs of all pupils •Use a range of effective teaching strategies to promote progress and achievement •Build and maintain positive relationships with pupils, parents, colleagues, and external partners •Monitor, assess, and track pupil attainment, using data to inform planning and interventions •Contribute to curriculum development and take an active role in the wider life of the school •Create an inclusive, respectful, and aspirational classroom culture where every child can succeed The Ideal Candidate •Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent •Has a strong understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum •Has proven experience delivering phonics using Read Write Inc. •Possesses excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills •Is reflective, adaptable, and committed to ongoing professional development •Demonstrates a thorough understanding of safeguarding and brings a positive, caring, and resilient approach to supporting children’s learning and well-being This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive, forward-thinking school where every member of staff works together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children.
