Job Overview
Location: Longmoor Lodge Care Home, 114 Longmoor Lane, Sandiacre.
Position: Care Assistant (Full-time).
Key Responsibilities
* Provide support with washing, toileting, dressing and other daily living activities.
* Assist with physical, emotional and spiritual care needs, ensuring residents retain comfort and dignity.
* Help residents with limited mobility or physical/learning difficulties, making best use of aids.
* Closely monitor residents who may be confused or have behavioural problems.
* Assist in the promotion of continence and in caring for residents with progressive illness or those dying.
* Observe care‑planning needs, complete written daily records and follow company policies and procedures.
* Assist with the delivery of social activities, interacting with residents during hobbies and outings.
* Answer nurse‑call system and phone, passing on messages promptly.
* Support visitors, provide refreshments and ensure a welcoming environment.
* Make and change beds, keep rooms, equipment and waste disposal in line with care‑home policy.
* Clean and maintain equipment used by residents (wheelchairs, hearing aids, spectacles, etc.).
* Escort residents to and from the care home, hospital visits and social outings.
* Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with residents’ personal and financial affairs.
* Assist with rearranging rooms, furniture and beds using safe handling techniques.
* Participate in staff and client meetings.
* Maintain professional knowledge and attend mandatory training, pursuing relevant N/SVQ qualifications.
* Report illness, accidents, hazards and ensure compliance with health and safety policy.
Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications
Required
* Genuine interest in working in a caring environment.
* Strong communication skills at all levels.
* Team player.
* Willingness to participate in vocational training programmes.
* Satisfactory Police Check and POVA list check where applicable.
Desired
* Relevant vocational qualification (achieved or working towards).
* Experience working with the relevant client group.
Training and Development
* Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
* Attend mandatory training days or courses on and off site.
* Participate in relevant N/SVQ training to achieve required qualifications.
Health and Safety
* Report illness or accidents promptly.
* Implement the care‑home’s health and safety policy and emergency procedures.
* Notify management of faulty equipment, furniture or hazards.
* Promote safe working practice and maintain cleanliness.
* Adhere to company policies and procedures within the defined time frames.

Required Criteria
* UCAS: GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English.
* NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care.
* Experience caring for elderly people.
* Experience in a care home or healthcare setting.
