ROLE OVERVIEW
The role involves leading the delivery of a high touch service for your own and existing High-Net-Worth (HNW) clients. You will oversee the end-to-end delivery.
The Private Client Wealth Adviser / Associate Director supports a director in managing and growing a portfolio of HNW and Ultra‑High‑Net‑Worth (UHNW) clients. This role focuses on delivering sophisticated wealth planning, exceptional relationship management, and strategic advisory support. Clients typically include business owners, senior executives, entrepreneurs, trustees, and multi‑generational families with complex needs.
The role suits an experienced wealth adviser with strong technical depth, exceptional communication skills, and the credibility required to work with high‑value clients.
This role can be a springboard to senior leadership (SMF function) and equity participation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Client relationship management
* Act as a primary or secondary point of contact for both your own portfolio of clients and an established client book of HNW and UHNW clients with complex needs, portfolios typically £1m–£10m+.
* Be integral to and take responsibility for securing existing clients through exemplary service and growing the client base and AUM both independently and as part of the team.
* Build deep, trust‑based relationships with clients and their families.
* Provide proactive, tailored communication, ensuring clients feel supported and well informed.
* Coordinate multi‑disciplinary discussions involving tax advisers, solicitors, accountants, and investment managers.
* Deliver a white glove, concierge level client experience consistent with private wealth standards.
* Respond promptly to client queries, providing clear explanations and managing expectations.
* Work closely with the director to maintain consistency of service and message.
Advisory support to the director
* Prepare and contribute to advice strategies for the director’s high‑value and complex clients.
* Attend client meetings alongside the director, taking responsibility for technical input and follow‑up.
* Draft suitability reports, recommendations, and planning notes.
* Conduct research and analysis to support investment, pension, IHT and protection strategies.
* Analyse complex holdings, legacy investments, family structures, trusts, and corporate assets.
* Prepare high‑quality technical notes, planning summaries, and strategic recommendations.
* Support succession planning and intergenerational wealth discussions.
* Assist with onboarding new clients and transitioning them smoothly into ongoing service.
Wealth management and advice delivery
* Provide regulated financial advice where authorised (or work under supervision if moving towards CAS status).
* Deliver holistic wealth and financial planning including:
* Ensure all advice meets FCA requirements, Consumer Duty, and internal compliance standards.
Investment and portfolio support
* Work closely with DFMs, CIO teams, or investment committees on portfolio design and oversight.
* Participate in investment review meetings, ensuring suitability for HNW risk profiles.
* Provide clients with clear explanations of market conditions and portfolio performance.
* Support the director in reviewing model portfolios, bespoke mandates, and alternative investments.
* Support ongoing portfolio monitoring and periodic rebalancing activities.
* Assist the director with preparation for investment reviews and model portfolio updates.
* Provide clients with clear commentary on investment performance and market movements.
* Liaise with DFMs or internal investment teams where required.
Operational excellence and client service leadership
* Coordinate with paraplanners and support teams to deliver seamless client service.
* Oversee the preparation of HNW review packs, valuations, and technical models.
* Ensure a high standard of documentation, communication, and service delivery.
* Identify operational improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality for HNW clients.
* Uphold confidentiality, discretion, and professional integrity at all times.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (essential). Level 6 and Chartered status desirable.
* Strong experience working with HNW clients in wealth management, private banking, or financial planning.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage senior professionals and business owners.
* Deep technical knowledge of pensions, tax planning, trusts, investments, and estate planning.
* Ability to manage numerous tasks simultaneously.
* Key management and operational role for the support team.
* Confident presenting to sophisticated clients and facilitating multi‑party meetings.
* Strong commercial awareness and understanding of HNW client expectations.
* Strong understanding of FCA Conduct Rules, suitability requirements, and Consumer Duty.
SUMMARY
Salary: Dependent upon experience and qualifications
Employment Type: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
