ORI.AI LTD
Technician engineer
Posted: 31 March
Offer description

ORI.AI is a fast-growing, Cambridge-based AI startup at the forefront of the autonomous vehicle revolution. We don't just build models; we deploy them. Currently, we are spearheading the testing and maintenance of cutting‑edge autonomous heavy‑duty trucks at the Port of Felixstowe, one of the UK’s most dynamic logistics hubs.

As we scale, we are looking for a Field Operations Engineer who is as comfortable with a wrench and a multimeter as they are with a diagnostic terminal.

The Role

This isn't a desk job. You will be our "boots on the ground," ensuring that our autonomous fleet operates at peak performance. You will bridge the gap between advanced AI software and heavy‑duty automotive hardware, troubleshooting complex systems in a fast‑paced, real‑world environment.

Key Responsibilities

* On‑Site Operations: Lead the testing, calibration, and maintenance of autonomous trucks at the Port of Felixstowe.
* Systems Diagnostics: Identify and resolve hardware and software bottlenecks, focusing on sensor suites (LiDAR, Radar, Cameras) and compute units.
* Global Collaboration: Act as the technical lynchpin between our UK operations and our engineering HQ in China.
* Safety & Compliance: Ensure all testing protocols meet rigorous UK port safety standards.
* Reporting: Document system performance, failure analysis, and maintenance cycles to drive continuous product improvement.

Who You Are

* A Problem Solver: You thrive under pressure and enjoy the "puzzle" of diagnosing a system error in the field.
* Technically Versatile: You understand vehicle architectures and have a passion for robotics, even if your background is non‑traditional.
* Proactive & Resilient: You are willing to "get your hands dirty" and manage the demands of a high‑stakes project schedule.

Qualifications

* Background: Degree in Engineering (Robotics, Mech, Electrical) or Computer Science. Equally valued: Significant hands‑on experience in Machining, Manufacturing, or a Technical Workshop environment.
* Technical Skills: Familiarity with vehicle diagnostics and sensor integration (LiDAR, Radar, Ultrasonics).
* Languages: Fluency in English is essential. Mandarin proficiency is a significant advantage due to daily collaboration with our Chinese engineering teams.
* Adaptability: Ability to manage flexible hours and outdoor port environments as project milestones require.

What We Offer

* Pioneering Tech: Direct involvement in the real‑world deployment of Level 4 autonomous driving.
* Career Velocity: In a startup this size, your impact is immediate. You won't just be a cog in a machine; you'll be building the machine.
* Competitive Package: Salary and benefits commensurate with experience in the high‑growth AI sector.
* Cross‑Cultural Exposure: Work at the intersection of UK and Chinese tech innovation.
