This role involves working with time-honored techniques to produce precision-engineered components, tools, and parts. You will be responsible for machining and shaping metals with care, accuracy, and craftsmanship. Key Responsibilities: Operate a manually controlled lathe to turn, cut, and shape metal components to precise dimensions. Use a manual milling machine to shape parts with accuracy, performing tasks such as cutting slots, keyways, and gears. Operate manual drilling machines for precision hole-making and tapping. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accurate machining. Measure and inspect finished components using manual measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure they meet specifications. Maintain and sharpen tools, jigs, and fixtures, applying traditional toolmaking techniques. Plan and execute custom tooling solutions or repairs for bespoke projects, applying old-school craftsmanship. Ensure the machines are well-maintained, clean, and in proper working order. Adhere to safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment at all times. Qualifications: Proven experience operating manual lathes, milling machines, and drill presses. Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. Proficiency in manual measuring and inspection tools. Knowledge of traditional toolmaking practices and materials. Keen attention to detail and quality craftsmanship. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently. A passion for traditional machining and engineering craftsmanship.
