About The Post

We are recruiting a Cycle Mechanic in Barnsley to support our cycling and active travel ambitions, encouraging residents to cycle for work, travel or leisure.

The role involves working at the town centre Active Travel Hub and a mobile unit across the borough.

In Your Role As Cycle Mechanic, You Will

• Support the development and operational delivery of the active travel hub and mobile hub, including public advice and support, community engagement, cycle and e‑cycle loan scheme, secure cycle parking operations, bike servicing and maintenance checks, recycling and deployment, marketing and communications.
• Work closely with the Sport & Physical Activity Team to support wider walk, cycle and active travel offers in schools, workplaces and communities, supporting cycling and walking activities.

About You

• A relevant Level 4 or cycle mechanic qualification (e.g. Cytech) or equivalent experience.
• Experience in cycle servicing, fleet management or cycle delivery.
• A flexible approach and commitment to helping more people cycle in Barnsley.
• Customer‑facing experience and an ability to create a welcoming, positive experience.

The role includes variable shifts and occasional weekend work.
