Lead Engineer – Door Systems role at Tata Technologies based at the customer site in Gaydon.

Our Engineering Research and Development (ER&D) function is growing and works on exciting projects globally across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.
The Role: To provide engineering expertise in the design, development, integration, and maintenance of door systems within rolling stock, with a focus on mechatronics. The role involves supporting project delivery, ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
* Design & Development: Support the design and specification of door systems, including mechanical, electrical, and control components.
* Systems integration: Assist in the integration of door systems with vehicle control architectures and safety systems.
* Testing & Validation: Participate in functional testing, fault diagnosis, and validation of door systems; support commissioning activities and ensure systems meet performance and safety requirements.
* Project Support: Contribute to engineering work packages, including documentation, risk assessments, and change control; liaise with suppliers, manufacturers, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery of components and solutions.
* Compliance & Standards: Ensure work complies with relevant industry standards and company procedures; support audits and reviews related to door system safety and reliability; identify opportunities for system optimisation, cost reduction, and reliability improvements; contribute to lessons learned and knowledge sharing across engineering teams.
Knowledge / Experience
* Degree or HNC/HND in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering.
* Experience working with door systems in rail, automotive, aerospace, or similar industries.
* Knowledge of mechatronic systems, sensors, actuators, and control logic.
* Familiarity with CAD tools, FMEA, and fault diagnostics.
* Understanding of safety-critical systems and relevant standards.
