Job Purpose
Ensure smooth day-to-day finance operations, accurate management accounts, and a true and fair view of the company's financial position.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Maintain up-to-date accounting policies and procedures for accurate management information and audit compliance.
2. Establish and monitor a strong financial control framework to mitigate risks.
3. Review monthly management accounts, compare against budgets, and analyze variances.
4. Prepare monthly board packs including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
5. Reconcile balance sheets and ensure supporting documentation is available.
6. Post journals in the Sage system as needed for management accounts.
7. Review divisional management reports and suggest improvements and cost savings.
8. Produce weekly cash flow forecasts.
9. Approve supplier payments and oversee cash collection from trade debtors.
10. Identify working capital management opportunities.
11. Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns to HMRC.
12. Lead and develop the finance team, including supervision of two direct reports.
13. Prepare year-end financial statements in accordance with FRS102.
14. Coordinate audit processes and liaise with auditors and tax advisors.
15. Assist with annual budgeting and reforecasting.
16. Optimize Sage 200 and integrate with bespoke waste management software (ISYS).
Skills and Experience
* Strong technical accounting knowledge.
* Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) with at least 3 years PQE.
* Experience in budgeting within a multi-disciplinary SME.
* Ability to manage and plan team workload.
* Attention to detail and strong Excel skills, including modeling.
* Experience with Sage 200 is essential.
